Vedanta's Healthcare Initiatives Reach 4 Million People in FY26

Vedanta Group has said its healthcare initiatives reached nearly 4 million beneficiaries in FY26 through preventive, primary and specialised healthcare services delivered across rural, tribal and underserved communities.

Marking National Doctors' Day, the natural resources company recognised the contribution of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals supporting its healthcare programmes across its operational locations.

A key component of Vedanta's healthcare network is BALCO Medical Centre (BMC), operated by the Vedanta Medical Research Foundation. The tertiary cancer care hospital in Central India has treated nearly 70,000 patients since its inception, performed around 13,000 major surgeries and delivered more than 90,000 chemotherapy sessions, expanding access to oncology care in the region.

Vedanta said its healthcare strategy spans preventive care, primary healthcare, specialised treatment, maternal and child health services, telemedicine, mobile medical units and community hospitals. The programmes are designed to improve access to quality healthcare in remote and underserved regions while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to health, gender equality and reduced inequalities.

The company added that its interventions focus on immunisation, nutrition, adolescent health, maternal care, early childhood development and the screening and management of non-communicable diseases through hospitals, primary healthcare centres, mobile health units and digital health platforms.

Among its key healthcare initiatives is Vedanta Hospital at Lanjigarh in Odisha's Kalahandi district, which serves more than 60,000 people annually with free consultations, diagnostics, medicines, physiotherapy and specialist services. Mobile Health Units extend healthcare services to around 20,000 additional residents in remote tribal villages. The hospital recently launched a 24x7 telemedicine facility in partnership with Tata 1mg.

Vedanta's flagship social impact initiative, Nand Ghar, also integrates nutrition, early childhood care, primary healthcare and women empowerment through technology-enabled anganwadi centres. The programme currently supports immunisation drives, health camps, digital healthcare services and an artificial intelligence-enabled anaemia screening initiative across 300 Nand Ghars in Rajasthan.

The company said it will continue investing in healthcare infrastructure, partnerships and community-based medical programmes to improve access to quality healthcare across the country while supporting healthcare professionals delivering these services.
