JSW Steel Posts 30.14 mn t Crude Steel Production In FY26

JSW Steel reported combined crude steel production for FY26 at 30.14 million (mn) tonne (t), registering growth of eight per cent year on year. The company noted combined production for the fourth quarter at 7.49 mn t and stated that trial run volumes had been included in the annual and quarterly totals. The report set out production for Indian operations at 29.25 mn t for the year and for JSW Steel USA at 0.83 mn t, with consolidated production of 30.08 mn t before inclusion of JSW Sambalpur Steel Limited volumes.

The Salem unit completed an upgrade with one caster modernised in January 2026 and a new ladle furnace and vacuum degasser commissioned in February 2026. Upon integration at the end of February 2026 the capacity of the Salem unit increased from one point zero mn tpa to one point one five mn tpa, effective March 2026, supporting the company’s medium term capacity plans. Management attributed a portion of the annual gain to these incremental capacities becoming operational.

Blast Furnace three at Vijayanagar was under shutdown for capacity upgradation from the end of September 2025 and this constrained crude steel production and capacity utilisation during FY26. The combined Indian operations recorded capacity utilisation of approximately ninety two per cent excluding Blast Furnace three capacity and approximately eighty seven per cent including it for the year. The company disclosed that trial run production of zero point three three mn t was included in FY26 totals and that quarter trial volumes amounted to zero point two one mn t.

The steel business undertaking of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited was transferred on a slump sale basis to JSW Sambalpur Steel Limited with effect from 27 March 2026 as part of formation of a joint venture with JFE Steel of Japan, and the associated production has been disclosed separately and added to combined figures. JSW Steel reiterated ongoing plans to expand consolidated crude steel capacity from current levels towards its next phase of growth over the coming years and to continue integration of new technologies and sustainability initiatives.
