Tata Steel breaks ground for green steel plant in Ludhiana

Tata Steel marked a significant milestone with the commencement of the groundbreaking ceremony for its forthcoming scrap-based electric arc furnace (EAF) plant in Ludhiana. This state-of-the-art facility is set to have an annual capacity of 7.50 lakh tonnes and will represent a major leap towards low-carbon, environmentally sustainable steel production. The project, which comes with a first-phase investment of ?32,600 crore, is projected to be operational by March 2025.

This initiative marks Tata Steel's first foray into establishing a low-carbon green steel plant within India.
