Himachal CM requests special aid for Mandi Airport

Jai Ram Thakur, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, met with Suman Bery, the vice chairman of Niti Aayog, and requested him to grant the state a special aid of Rs. 10 billion for the construction of the Mandi greenfield airport. Additionally, he requested a special allocation of Rs 10 billion for the state's improved aviation connectivity during the current fiscal year.

The Aayog vice chairman and Thakur also spoke about a number of state-related concerns, and Thakur informed him of the initiatives being taken to improve air connectivity in Himachal Pradesh.

He said a joint venture agreement has been signed between the state government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the construction of a greenfield airport in Mandi.

The Himachal Pradesh chief minister also urged Bery to extend the Industrial Development Scheme-2017 for the next five years for accelerating the pace of industrial development in the state.
