India Extends Airspace Closure for Pakistan Until October 24

India has extended the closure of its airspace to Pakistani civilian and military aircraft until October 24. Pakistan has similarly kept its airspace closed for Indian planes until the same date. Both countries initially imposed the restrictions in April following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Separate Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) have been issued by India and Pakistan to formalise the extension of the airspace closures.
According to India’s NOTAM issued on September 23, Pakistani-registered aircraft and planes operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines or operators, including military flights, will not be permitted to use Indian airspace. The closure will remain in effect until 23:59 UTC on October 23, which corresponds to 05:30 IST on October 24.
The initial closure came into effect on April 30 after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. Since then, the restrictions have been periodically extended.
NOTAMs are official notices providing critical information necessary for flight operations, ensuring the safety and coordination of air traffic.
