Apr to Aug sees 19 km per day slowdown in highway construction

The national highway development dropped to 19 km per day during the first five months of the current fiscal year.

While national highway (NH) building in the country reached a record 37 km per day in 2020–2021, it dropped to 28.64 km per day in 2021–2022 as a result of pandemic-related delays and a monsoon that lasted longer than usual in several regions of the nation.

In comparison to the 3,355 km built up to August of previous year, the Ministry has built 2,912 km of National Highways up to August 2022. During this time, the Award travelled 2,706 km as opposed to 3,261 km the year before.

During the months of April through August of this year, 2,706 km were awarded, down from 3,261 km during the same period last year, according to ministry data.
