Chief Minister Reviews PMGSY Progress, Orders Timely Road Completion

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) across Jammu and Kashmir, with emphasis on expediting ongoing works and improving rural connectivity. The meeting concentrated on identifying and addressing bottlenecks affecting project execution and on ensuring timely completion of sanctioned works.

He reviewed the status of PMGSY works under various phases and took stock of advances in providing all-weather road connectivity to rural habitations across the region. Officials briefed him on ongoing projects, newly sanctioned works and the roadmap for completion of pending road and bridge projects. The Chief Minister directed concerned departments to ensure timely execution while maintaining high standards of quality and called for close inter-departmental coordination to resolve issues relating to statutory clearances and procedural requirements.

He also reviewed the implementation strategy for the PMGSY phase four (PMGSY-IV) and urged authorities to expedite preparatory processes so that sanctioned works are taken up in a time-bound manner. The emphasis was placed on extending reliable road connectivity to eligible rural habitations, particularly those in remote and border areas, to improve access to services and livelihoods. Officers presented an overview of progress under different phases and outlined an action plan for completion of remaining works.
