J. Kumar JV Secures Rs 23.6 Billion Expressway Contract

J. Kumar Infraprojects and SDPL in a joint venture has been awarded a major expressway contract by the National Highways Authority of India, as disclosed in the company filing. The scope covers construction of a four lane expressway expandable to eight lanes to connect the proposed Vadhavan Port with Tawa Village on National Highway 48, with a design length of 32.18 km on an engineering, procurement and construction mode. The joint venture has received a Letter of Acceptance and the contract is to be executed on a turnkey basis.

The total contract value is Rs 23.6 billion (bn), equivalent to 23,600 million (mn), reflecting the scale of the assignment to be delivered by the joint venture. The project tenure is 30 months for completion and the contract has been awarded on a domestic basis. The nature of the assignment is civil infrastructure focused on highway construction and related connectivity works.

The company has stated that the award does not involve any interest of the promoter, promoter group or group companies in the contracting authority and that the project does not constitute a related party transaction. The contract is expected to bolster the order book and support execution activity across the company's construction operations without altering known group interests. The engagement aligns with ongoing infrastructure development priorities in the region and aims to improve port connectivity.

The filing indicates that the Letter of Acceptance and accompanying details have been uploaded to the company website and intimated to the stock exchanges in accordance with regulatory obligations.
