Jaipur Elevated Road Gets Rs. 2.51 bn Approval

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has approved development works worth more than Rs. 5.75 bn, including Rs. 2.51 bn for an elevated road between the Triveni Nagar railway overbridge on Gopalpura Bypass and an area near Gujjar Ki Thadi. The approvals were cleared at the authority’s 10th Project Works Committee meeting on Monday.

The elevated road received the largest allocation in the package through a revised proposal. The corridor is intended to improve movement between the Triveni Nagar overbridge and Gujjar Ki Thadi, a busy urban stretch where road infrastructure forms the largest part of the approved investment.

The JDA sanctioned Rs. 1.76 bn for stormwater drains from the National Highway bypass on Kalwar Road to the Bandi river and along Niwai Road in Zone 12. A further Rs. 583.6 mn was approved for drainage works in Benad Road, Murlipura, Jhotwara Industrial Area, Niwai Road and adjoining areas. Together, the drainage approvals total Rs. 2.35 bn and cover industrial, residential and peripheral parts of Jaipur.

The authority also approved Rs. 422.2 mn for a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) centre in Vidyadhar Nagar. Other sanctioned works include Rs. 263.2 mn for the holistic development of Shipra Path in Mansarovar and Rs. 85.3 mn for a sector road linking CK Birla Hospital on Durgapura Road with Sanskrit University in Triveni Nagar.

The remaining allocations include Rs. 63.7 mn for a food arena at Ram Niwas Bagh and Rs. 63.3 mn for footpath development on major roads in Zone C2. The report did not specify construction schedules, tender timelines or completion dates for the projects. Implementation will depend on the JDA’s administrative and financial sanction process, followed by execution of the individual works.

The all-India average trade price increased by Rs. 7 per bag month-on-month to Rs. 356 in September. Centrum Broking’s channel checks indicated gains across both trade and non-trade segments, with non-trade prices recording sharper increases..

Minister G Kishan Reddy Says No Coal Shortage Despite Higher Power Demand

Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy said India was not facing a coal shortage despite higher demand from thermal power plants, monsoon-related disruptions in mining operations and lower hydropower generation. He said coal was being supplied to power stations through railway rakes and road transport. Reddy made the remarks on Monday on the sidelines of the Assocham-organised Angul Aluminium Roadshow in Kolkata. His comments came amid reports of alleged supply constraints at some power plants, although he said the temporary interruptions should not be interpreted as a broader shortage. ..
