Maharashtra to develop Pune-Nashik expressway
The Union government had previously proposed a semi-highspeed railway between Pune and Nashik in order to create an industrial corridor between the two cities. It runs through the districts of Pune, Nagar, and Nashik, and its alignment has been finalised by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDL).
The expressway will run from the proposed Pune ring road near Chimbali to Shinde on National Highway-60, passing through Junner, Ambegaon, and Khed in the Pune district, Sangamner in the Nagar district, and Sinnar in the Nashik district. It will have five lanes on each side, flyovers or interchanges at major road crossings, vehicular and pedestrian underpasses and underpasses in every village, and bypasses in major cities.
To provide faster connectivity between the golden triangle of Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will build a 180 km expressway between Pune and Nashik along the lines of the expressway between Pune and Mumbai.
