MSRDC to monetize land parcels along Pune-Mumbai expressway

In a strategic move to fund major infrastructure projects, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is set to monetize its land parcels along the Pune-Mumbai expressway. A senior MSRDC official disclosed to TOI that 24 specific land parcels along this vital expressway have been identified for this purpose, totaling an impressive 450 hectares.

The proceeds from leasing these lands will be directed towards financing significant infrastructure endeavors, including the Samruddhi expressway, Pune ring road, Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor, and Jalna Nanded expressway, among others, according to the official.
Under this monetization plan, the land will be leased for an extended period of 99 years, providing a long-term funding solution for these ambitious projects. Radheshyam Mopalwar, Managing Director of MSRDC, emphasized that the plan is already in motion in Pune and Raigad districts, with the goal of putting unused MSRDC land parcels to productive use. "The land parcels of the MSRDC were lying vacant, so we have taken the decision to monetize our key projects," he explained.

A senior MSRDC official, actively engaged in the land acquisition process, revealed that a tender has been floated for the land parcel in Panel, and a similar initiative is in the works for Pune. This innovative approach to financing critical infrastructure projects is expected to unlock new avenues for development in the region while efficiently utilizing available resources.
