NHAI will build elevated roads on highways passing through cities

With an estimated investment of Rs 300 billion, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has chosen to build elevated roads on highways that run through cities. Nashik Phata to Khed, Talegaon to Chakan, Hadapsar to Dive Ghat, and Wagholi to Shirur will all have elevated highways. Nitin Gadkari, the minister of transportation for the union, made the announcement in Pune. The commuters who experience the frequent traffic delays have been requesting that authorities fix the problem. Elevated highways will aid in reducing traffic congestion.

Gadkari carried out an aerial survey of the Palkhi path, which connects Pandharpur with Alandi and Dehu's significant holy sites. The minister also went over the NHAI’s different road projects, including the Palkhi Marga project inside the boundaries of Pune district. Amol Kolhe, Member of Parliament, Shirur Lok Sabha in his tweet thanked NHAI and especially Nitin Gadkari for a positive response to consistent follow up on projects including Nashik Phata-Chandoli worth Rs 88.41 billion; Pune-Shirur worth Rs 100 billion; Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur worth Rs 110 billion.

Reciprocating to this, Nitin Gadkari said “The work of the Pune-Bengaluru highway is around 206 km. While travelling towards Bengaluru, the highway passes through villages suffering from drought. The stretch will bring about development that will give rise to new growth in the area.” He also stated, “During the construction of Katraj-Dehu Road, there was very little urbanisation and a bypass was constructed outside of the city. No one thought that Pune city will grow so fast, therefore the number of vehicles on this road has increased. A separate DPR is being prepared for ‘Katraj-Dehu Road’ following incidents of traffic jam and accident in the Navle Bridge area and Katraj-Dehu Road bypass. Hence, an elevated road is being considered in the Navale Pool area.”

The industrial sector of Chakan will benefit from the elevated road, according to everyday commuter Nikhil Meshram on the Talegaon-Chakan route. The route should be completed as soon as possible by the government. Traffic congestion is a daily occurrence for many commuters.
