Nitin Gadkari inaugurates Rs 816 crore Amravati-Chikhali highway section

National Highway 53 was described as an important trade link between Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. It was mentioned that this highway served as a connection between Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, (Khamgaon) Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, and Bhandara districts in Maharashtra. The significance of this highway was further highlighted due to its role in facilitating connectivity for the Raipur-Nagpur-Surat or East-West corridor.

The quadrangle project of Sadar Shelad-Nandura division, with a total length of 45 km, was mentioned. It was noted that this project included a 14 km greenfield bypass, 4 major bridges, 16 minor bridges, 63 culverts, 1 railway overbridge (ROB), 8 vehicle underpasses, 2 pedestrian underpasses, and 12 bus shelters. The project was said to be beneficial for the renowned silver market of Silver City Khamgaon, which is a subdivision of Buldhana district.

It was stated that the implementation of this project successfully resolved the problem of traffic congestion in Khamgaon city and would contribute to reducing the number of accidents. The vehicle underpasses and the ROB were expected to enhance the safety of road users. Additionally, the project was anticipated to facilitate travel to significant religious and geographical locations such as Shegaon and Lonar. Furthermore, it was believed that the project would contribute to the development of tourism, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities.
