The elevated road between Airoli and Katai Naka is 88% completed

The twin tunnels that are also part of the project are 66% complete, while the Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road is 88% finished. Travel time between Dombivli, Thane, and Mumbai is anticipated to be significantly reduced as a result of the infrastructural project. The construction is being managed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is changing the Mumbai Metropolitan Region by taking on important infrastructural projects.

In November 2017, construction on the 12.3 km elevated link between Airoli and Katai Naka began work. Under Parsik Hill, the project is building twin tube tunnels with three lanes each that are 1.69 km long. After it is finished, the project will aid in easing traffic in Kalyan, Dombivli, Ambarnath, and Badlapur. Currently, morning traffic is a problem for motorists travelling between these locations.

"Work on both sections is in its crucial stages," an MMRDA official stated. The 1,690 metre tunnel road and the elevated road from Thane Belapur Road to NH4 are both a part of the same project.

The extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project, which is separated into three sections, is where the Airoli-Katai Naka project is being carried out. A senior MMRDA official told that the elevated route would cut the distance and travel time between Kalyan-Dombivli and Navi Mumbai by 7 km and 15 min, respectively. Between Airoli to Katai Naka, the current route takes 35 to 45 minutes.
