Bullet train project: Railway stations in Gujarat to be developed

On Wednesday, Suneet Sharma, CEO and Chairman of the Railway Board, told the media that the Gandhinagar railway station development work is almost completed while development work has started in Bhuj, Ahmedabad, Udhna and Surat railway stations in Gujarat.

Sharma said that the Gandhinagar station is being developed, including a hotel on the station. He informed that the bullet train project in the Gujarat section is running as planned, and 95% of the acquisition of land is on. Several issues are being faced regarding land procurement in Maharashtra. The land of the undersea is still to be received.

Regarding the dedicated freight corridor, Sharma said that a breakthrough in freight moving for the railways is anticipated by the succeeding year by combining the Adani and Mundra port freight to Palanpur on the dedicated freight corridor (DFC).

The eastern and western DFC is expected to be completed by next year. He also stated that freight trains currently run at an average speed of 46km per hour, and the railways are going to increase the speed further.

Concerning the railway passenger services, Sharma stated that the railways have decided to commence more special trains in an area depending on the length of the waiting lists for any train.

Additionally, Sharma said that they are moving forward on the state government's recommendation for commencing train services. Trains have been started for Ranchi, Mumbai and Surat since the passengers require round trips. He said that the private train operation tenders have been declared, and there are 10 bidders in the race.

The decision on the tenders will be taken soon.
