India, Romania Strengthen Trade and Industry Cooperation

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Jitin Prasada, led the Indian business delegation at the India–Romania Business Forum, organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bra?ov (CCIBv) in partnership with the Embassy of India in Bucharest and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India.

The engagement focused on expanding bilateral investment and industrial cooperation between the two countries, bringing together business leaders from key sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defence, renewable energy, engineering services, and information and communication technology (ICT).

In his address, Shri Prasada underscored India’s emergence as one of the fastest-growing major economies and invited Romanian enterprises to participate in India’s dynamic manufacturing and innovation ecosystem under the Make in India and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes. He emphasised that India’s policy reforms, infrastructure modernisation, and ease-of-doing-business initiatives have created a conducive environment for global partnerships and technology-driven industrial growth.

A presentation on “Business Opportunities in India” showcased recent policy initiatives, streamlined investment processes, and state-level incentives across major industrial corridors. The forum also witnessed the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and matchmaking sessions designed to promote joint ventures, technology transfers, and industrial collaborations between Indian and Romanian enterprises.

The Bra?ov Forum marked a significant step in strengthening India’s trade and investment engagement with Central and Eastern Europe, reaffirming both nations’ shared commitment to long-term cooperation in sustainable manufacturing, green energy, and advanced technology sectors.

Bra?ov, symbolising modern Romania, represents a blend of legacy industries and emerging technologies where innovation and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) thrive. This progressive industrial ecosystem mirrors India’s own transformation through Make in India and Digital India initiatives, where micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups are central to inclusive economic growth.

The alignment between Bra?ov’s industrial expertise and India’s manufacturing, design, and engineering strengths offers immense potential for collaboration. Both nations aim to deepen economic linkages that promote sustainability, technology exchange, and mutual prosperity.
