Completion of Pune's last two metro lines expected by Oct-Dec

MahaMetro, the authority in charge of Pune's metro system, has announced its plans to finish the remaining tasks on the Metro lines that connect Ramwadi and Swargate by the conclusion of this year. It has been reported that subsequent to the recent prosperous initiation of services on two metro segments on August 1, the subsequent primary objective is to establish connections for the ultimate stations on the two Metro routes.

The progress of these routes has been observable, with sections progressively becoming operational since the prior year. The recently unveiled portions encompass the Phugewadi-Civil Court and Garware College-Ruby Hall sections, both inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Pune visit.

The anticipation is for the completion of the remaining stretches on the Bund Garden to Ramwadi section by around October, while the Civil Court to Swargate stretch is predicted to conclude its development by December. As per statements from MahaMetro officials, the Ramwadi stretch is fully elevated and encompasses significant stations such as Bund Garden, Yerawada, Kalyaninagar, and Nagar Road. In contrast, the Civil Court-Swargate route is entirely subterranean, featuring crucial stations like Kasba Peth, Mandai, and Swargate.

Subsequent to the operationalisation of these extensions, commuters will find themselves able to travel smoothly from Vanaz to Ramwadi and from PCMC to Swargate, thus augmenting the total operational span of the Metro from 24km to 33km. Habitual commuters are expressing their enthusiasm for these extensions, looking forward to elevated convenience and enhanced connectivity. Kasba Peth resident Satish Agarwal underscored the importance of the Swargate center, which serves as both a central juncture and a significant bus terminal, ultimately improving accessibility for out-of-town travellers. In the meantime, IT professional Ashwin Rane, who resides in close proximity to Nagar Road, conveyed a wish for further expansion of the Metro network to encompass the areas of Kharadi and Wagholi.
