Hazrat Nizamuddin to become Delhi's biggest transport hub

The first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India, which will run between Delhi and Meerut, is currently under construction, and its Ghaziabad priority segment is anticipated to open to the public soon. Just 300 metres separate the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in South Delhi from the Sarai Kale Khan station for the RRTS corridor.

The Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station is anticipated to become the busiest multi-modal transit hub and the largest railway station in the National Capital Region (NCR) due to its RRTS link, closeness to the Sarai Kale Khan bus depot, and Delhi Metro's Pink Line network.

According to the concept, Sarai Kale Khan-Nizamuddin will serve as Delhi's first point of fast rail connectivity and the beginning of the entire RRTS route.

The National Capital Region Transport Company (NCRTC), the organisation responsible for carrying out the RRTS project, intends to transform this station into a multi-modal hub with quick access to a number of transportation hubs.

There will be connections from the Sarai Kale Khan station to the nearby ISBT bus terminal, which is only a short distance away. Moreover, one of the RRTS station's entrances will face the Nizamuddin Metro station. The 280-meter-long Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with a travelator from the RRTS to the train station is also being built by NCRTC.

One of the most important train stations in New Delhi is Nizamuddin. About to 250 trains a day connect this station with numerous important cities, including among others Bangalore, Chennai, Secunderabad, Madgaon, Bombay, Bhopal, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Nizamuddin is one of the 13 stations that will be renovated as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Project, according to the Ministry of Railways. The Railways will create a master plan soon to upgrade station amenities.
