Khajjidoni-Lokapura railway line set for completion this year

According to MP PC Gaddigoudar, the construction of the new railway line between Khajjidoni and Lokapura, a component of the Bagalkot-Kudachi railway project, will be finished in a year. The BWR reported that the 142 km Bagalkot-Kudachi line was approved in 2010–2011, while the 30 km Bagalkot–Khajidoni line was opened in 2018. The foundation stone was laid for the new Khajjidoni– Lokapur line on the outskirts of Lokapur, according to the BWR. He claimed that work on the 9-kilometer route between Khajjidoni and Lokapur has begun, and it will likely be finished this year.

“The tenders have already been called for the Lokapura – Yadwada 21 km route and the railway officials have assured us that the work will be started in the next two months. Several farmers have given land for this development work,” he said.

The 9 km Khajjidoni-Lokapura rail line is being built at a cost of Rs 1.4 billion, according to the program's moderator, Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol. “Since Lokapura rail is being developed as a commercial city, export of lime, cement, fruits, and non- work crops will help in the development of tourism” he added.

According to legislative council member PH Pujar, the construction of the Bagalkot-Kudachi railway line is a long-held dream that will benefit the local populace if it is successful. According to him, it will facilitate the transportation of goods like fruit, limestone, cement, textiles, and industrial growth. Hanamanta Nirani, Prakash Hukkeri, and Siddu Savadi, the president of the State Handloom Development Corporation, all spoke.

Those present included chief construction engineer Muralikrishnan, senior divisional commercial manager Harieta, additional deputy commissioner Mahadev Muragi, additional divisional manager of southwest Railway Santosh Kumar Verma, and others.
