L&T bags second major contract for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won the contract to construct Package C3 of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project in Maharashtra by India’s National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL). The contract, which is worth ₹15,697 crore, involves the design and construction of 135.45 km of high-speed railway between Shilphata in Thane (chainage Km 21.150 – Km 156.600) and Zaroli at the Maharashtra-Gujarat border.

The scope of work includes the construction of viaducts, bridges, tunnels, earth structures, and stations at Thane, Virar, and Boisar.

This is the second major civil contract package that L&T has won for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. In 2021, the company won the contract for package C4, which involves the construction of 237.1 km of the elevated high-speed rail line between Zaroli and Vadodara.

NHSRCL has requested bids for the construction of C3 in November 2022, with an undetermined estimate and a completion deadline of 1704 days (4.66 years). In April, technical proposals were opened, revealing that four firms (3 in a consortium) had submitted bids.
