The Central Secretariat station is being developed under Phase five A as an extension of the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. The new Magenta Line facility at Central Secretariat will form a triple interchange, integrating with the Yellow Line and Violet Line to facilitate transfers. The corridor spans over nine km and comprises nine underground stations. An interchange at Shivaji Stadium will improve access to central areas.

Officials indicated that the corridor aims to reduce congestion on surface roads and to provide an efficient alternative for daily commuters travelling between west and central sectors. Integration with the Yellow and Violet Lines is designed to distribute passenger flows more evenly across the network and to shorten journey times for many routes. The project is part of the broader Phase five network expansion that extends metro reach into key administrative and commercial zones. Construction work will proceed in phases to minimise disruption to existing services.

Authorities noted that the development aligns with urban mobility objectives to enhance public transport capacity and to support operational needs of government and private staff. The triple interchange at Central Secretariat is set to become a critical node for transfers within the city network while the extended Magenta Line will link peripheral districts directly to central destinations. Project completion is intended to strengthen the resilience of the transit system and to offer commuters a reliable alternative to road travel. SPML Infra raises over Rs 1.9 billion through preferential issue
