Adani Kattupalli Handles Record 35,000-Tonne Soda Ash Cargo

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has achieved a major milestone at its Kattupalli port near Chennai, successfully handling a 35,000-metric-tonne consignment of soda ash—the largest shipment of its kind ever received at an Indian port.
The company stated that this achievement reaffirms Kattupalli’s position as a key bulk cargo hub for southern India. The port's mechanised handling infrastructure, extensive warehousing, and robust multimodal connectivity enable seamless cargo movement to industrial centres across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states.
According to APSEZ, the efficient discharge of the shipment reflects the port’s growing capability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive cargo flows. “The smooth execution demonstrates Kattupalli’s ability to deliver speed, scale, and reliability for customers,” the company said.
This operational success aligns with Adani’s broader strategy to enhance India’s maritime infrastructure and integrate more effectively into global supply chains, positioning Kattupalli as a critical node in that logistics network.
