Allcargo Terminals Expands JNPT CFS Capacity

Multimodal logistics operator Allcargo Terminals Ltd, an Allcargo Group subsidiary, has increased the capacity of its container freight station (CFS) near Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region to 0.36 million TEUs annually, up from 0.19 million TEUs.

The expansion reflects the company’s growth strategy and commitment to strengthening India’s export-import trade infrastructure. Allcargo Terminals said the upgrade is a key element of its three-year strategic plan focused on scale, digitisation and infrastructure enhancement across its national network.

Sunny Williams, Regional Head – West at Allcargo Terminals, said Jawaharlal Nehru Port is one of the most critical gateways for India’s EXIM trade, making the capacity expansion both strategic and timely. He added that enhanced yard space and warehousing infrastructure will enable the company to handle rising cargo volumes with greater efficiency and precision.

The upgraded CFS includes a 25 per cent increase in warehousing capacity and dedicated zones for special and over-dimensional cargo. The expanded yard is supported by RTG-enabled, tag-less operations, positioning the facility to cater to the growing cargo throughput at JNPT.

Allcargo Terminals said the capacity augmentation reinforces its leadership in operational scale, efficiency and digital-led logistics services, while supporting JNPT’s ambition to become the first Indian port to handle 10 million TEUs by 2027. Proximity to the port enables faster turnaround times, while advanced safety and security systems enhance service quality.

The company has also deployed digital tools such as the MyCFS app and smart yard management systems to enable seamless and paperless workflows. Venugopal Shetty, Facility Head, CFS JNPT at Allcargo Terminals, said the expansion addresses rising customer requirements and improves planning, visibility and execution through higher yard and warehouse capacity backed by digital platforms.

Allcargo Terminals also operates a second facility near JNPT through its wholly owned subsidiary, Speedy Multimodes, and runs seven CFS and inland container depot facilities across major ports in India.
