APEDA Facilitates First Shipment of Indian Pomegranates to USA

In a historic milestone for India’s fresh fruit exports, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) successfully facilitated the first commercial sea shipment of Indian Bhagwa pomegranates from Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, to New York, USA. The shipment, comprising 14 tons of the prized fruit, signifies the growing international demand for premium quality Indian pomegranates and opens new avenues in the competitive U.S. market.

The successful shift from air freight to the more cost-effective and sustainable sea freight follows the trial shipments conducted under APEDA’s collaboration with the USDA and other stakeholders. The initiative reflects the growing potential for Indian fruits in global markets.
