Taural India Supplies Castings For Indigenous Marine Gearboxes

Taural India, one of India’s leading integrated aluminium foundries, has supplied high-quality aluminium castings to Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd for use in propulsion gearboxes under an Indigenous Patrol Vessels Programme that has now been successfully delivered. Co-designed by the two companies, the development marks a key milestone in the indigenisation of marine propulsion systems and strengthens their roles within India’s advanced marine manufacturing ecosystem.

Under the collaboration, Taural India developed and delivered 16 complete sets of aluminium castings in less than five months. Leveraging its expertise in aluminium sand casting, the company refined component designs, optimised weight and produced structurally sound, defect-free castings with complex internal cavities that meet stringent strength and performance requirements for critical marine applications.

Commenting on the collaboration, Bharat Gite, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Taural India, said the project demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver precision-engineered, indigenous solutions for India’s maritime sector. He added that the partnership reinforces confidence in India’s manufacturing ecosystem to achieve global standards through local engineering excellence.

Rajiv Rajpal, Chief Executive Officer of the power transmission business at Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd, said the successful indigenisation of lightweight propulsion gearboxes represents a significant step towards enhancing India’s maritime self-reliance. He noted that Taural India was selected for its proven capability in high-precision aluminium sand casting and its ability to deliver large, complex components within demanding timelines.

Taural India is certified by the American Bureau of Shipping, confirming its credentials as a qualified marine component supplier in line with rigorous international standards. Through this project, Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd has further reinforced its position as a trusted partner in India’s marine manufacturing ecosystem. Together, the collaboration highlights the growing sophistication of India’s industrial landscape, where home-grown engineering partnerships are enabling world-class outcomes and advancing the country’s self-reliance ambitions.
