The once-polluted Lake Periyakulam in Coimbatore has undergone a remarkable transformation and become a pristine hub in the city and also waste has been transformed into wealth. This change is attributed to a smart city project focused on revitalising seven ancient lakes that were historically part of the irrigation system. Coimbatore's Municipal Commissioner and CEO of Coimbatore Smart City, M Prathap, presented the initiatives undertaken under this project, which the city joined in 2016 at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). Notably, around Rs3.5 billion has been invested in these revitalisation efforts. Contact: Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) Website: www.iccc.smartcities.gov.in
