The Smart City Mission was introduced in 2016 and has now been operational for six years. However, its principal objective, which is to develop a participatory model for urban governance, is still elusive. particularly for urban poor.

People's hopes for a better run city with an inclusive population and robust infrastructure have been tragically dashed. Numerous initiatives related to the Smart City objective are in progress in numerous cities. Few, however, have succeeded in their personal goals.

Which begs the question: What benefits does the smart city mission offer to the urban underprivileged? Despite the millions of rupees invested in such projects, have their lives altered at all?
