The Smart City Mission was introduced in 2016 and has now been operational for six years. However, its principal objective, which is to develop a participatory model for urban governance, is still elusive. particularly for urban poor.

Which begs the question: What benefits does the smart city mission offer to the urban underprivileged? Despite the millions of rupees invested in such projects, have their lives altered at all?
