UPSIDA Approves Eight Logistics And Warehousing Projects

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority has approved eight new logistics and warehousing projects with an estimated investment of Rs eight billion (bn) under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022. The authority said investors are being encouraged to set up logistics and storage units on private land through incentives, financial assistance and tax exemptions under the policy. The approvals form part of the state effort to strengthen supply chains for agriculture and industry.

The newly approved projects comprise five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project to be located in districts including Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. The projects will be developed on nearly 110 acres of land and are expected to augment storage and distribution capacity across key production and consumption centres. UPSIDA indicated that the developments will support better handling of seasonal harvests and reduce post-harvest losses.

With these approvals UPSIDA has now sanctioned a total of 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the Programme Implementation Plan policy, covering nearly 810 acres and attracting a proposed investment exceeding Rs 129 bn. The cumulative portfolio is designed to enhance safe storage capacity for foodgrains and to provide improved storage and logistics facilities to farmers. Officials said the projects will accelerate the development of multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres.

Authorities expect the expanded infrastructure to integrate private investment with public policy measures and to catalyse regional distribution networks. Implementation is likely to proceed through phased land development and construction of storage and handling facilities in consultation with local administrations. The authority signalled continued approvals under the policy as part of efforts to scale logistics capacity across the state.
