UPSIDA Approves Eight Warehousing Projects With Rs Eight Bn

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) approved eight new warehousing and logistics projects with a proposed investment of about Rs eight bn, reinforcing the state government's drive to strengthen supply chain infrastructure. The approvals form part of efforts to accelerate industrial and agricultural logistics and to position Uttar Pradesh as a one tn dollar economy. Officials said the clearances reflect rising investor confidence and a willingness among private developers to expand storage and distribution capacity, which should improve goods movement and reduce bottlenecks.

The projects were sanctioned under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022, which offers incentives, financial assistance and tax benefits to attract private investment in storage and transport infrastructure. Officials described the policy as a key driver in mobilising capital and facilitating modern facilities for agricultural and industrial needs. The incentives are intended to lower transaction costs, encourage investment and speed up project implementation.

The newly cleared projects comprise five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project to be developed across Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur, covering approximately 110 acres. The capacity additions are expected to boost safe storage for food grains, reduce post-harvest losses and enhance supply chain resilience for farmers and processors. Development of modern distribution centres and cold chains is intended to support greater market access and fresher supply for consumers.

With these approvals UPSIDA has now cleared a total of 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the PIP policy, spread over nearly 810 acres and representing a cumulative proposed investment of more than Rs 129 bn. Officials said the pipeline will facilitate multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and improved last-mile connectivity across regions. The expansion is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities and attract ancillary services linked to storage and distribution while parallel efforts to improve ease of doing business aim to sustain investor interest and accelerate project execution.
