Jammu launches Solid Waste Management Plan at Nagrota

The Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, Avny Lavasa, this week launched the Solid Waste Management Plan in Dhok Waziran Panchayat of Nagrota Block.

The Deputy Commissioner Jammu appreciated the efforts of block officers and the sarpanch towards sensitising people regarding waste segregation and household composting. He gifted a garbage collecting e-rickshaw sponsored by Puri Oil Mills Ltd towards the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission Phase-II. The battery-powered garbage e-vans will provide an environment-friendly way to collect segregated solid waste from individual households and take them to waste collection and segregation centres.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the agarbatti making unit run by a local female self-help group. She assured the public representatives that the district administration was committed to resolving their issues.
