Consultant selected for Agra-Lucknow E'way

For the proposed Agra-Lucknow expressway Uttar Pradesh government on January 3 selected a consortium of feedback infrastructure services and Redecon India as the project development consultant. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10,500 crore. The selection was finalised in a meeting chaired by the State Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anil K Gupta.

Earlier, the financial bids of the two technically-qualified bidders, which also included the consortium of Egis India consulting engineers and Ernst & Young, were opened. The consortium of feedback infrastructure had quoted lowest financial bid for providing the services. UP expressways industrial authority (Upeida) is the implementing and the nodal agency for the project. The six-lane 270 km eco-friendly expressway is proposed on a minimal-agricultural land formula via PPP mode.

Improved road infrastructure was imperative to the industrial development and inclusive socio-economic progress in the state, Gupta said adding the expressway would propel development along its route apart from saving travel time and cost.

Upeida Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Mukul Singhal, informed the consultant would be provided the concept report of the proposed expressway for further detailing, including finalisation of alignment of trunk expressway and link roads.
