Hindalco secures long-term bauxite supply for Odisha plant expansion

Hindalco Industries announced its intention to form a long-term partnership with the Odisha Mining Corporation, ensuring a steady supply of Bauxite ore. The purpose is to fulfill the raw material requirements for its upcoming 2-million-tonnes alumina refinery and 150-MW captive power plant located in Kansariguda, Rayagada district, Odisha.

This project marks Hindalco's second venture in alumina refining within the Rayagada district of Odisha. The company will formalise this collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Odisha Mining Corporation. As per the regulatory filing, the planned investment for this initiative amounts to Rs 80 billion, split into two phases. The first phase, with a production capacity of one million tonnes, is slated for commissioning in FY'27, involving an investment of Rs 55 billion.
