Tangedco seeks tenders for coal mining

For captive generation, Tangedco has released a request for proposals for the mining and transportation of coal from the non-forested Chandrabila coal block in Odisha to the Ennore Thermal Power Plant, the Ennore SEZ, and the Udangudi Thermal Power Plant in west Thoothukudi.

The discom recently undertook a survey of the coal block that Tangedco purchased from Coal India through an auction to determine whether it would be feasible to mine in the surrounding forest. After receiving a favourable assessment from the agency, Tangedco was considering returning the coal blocks.

The coal block is situated alongside National Highway 42, which connects Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar, claims the call to bidders.
