Adani Solar to expand in Kerala seeing huge potential

Adani Solar announced that it would be expanding its business in Kerala, recognizing the southern state?s significant potential in the solar energy market.

As part of its expansion strategy, the company, the solar PV manufacturing arm of the Adani Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kochi-based Almiya Group, a well-known solar distributor, to serve as its official partner in the state.

Adani Solar mentioned its plans to install a 225 MW solar power plant in Purapura within a year and has established a warehouse in Coimbatore to facilitate faster delivery of panels to Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Cecil Augustine, the National Sales Head of Adani Solar, stated at a press conference that they were expanding their business in Kerala. He noted that in 2023 alone, they managed to establish solar panels for 70 MW in the state, emphasizing Kerala?s significant potential in the solar energy market. Augustine highlighted Adani Group?s substantial plans for Kerala.

Augustine asserted that the solar panels, entirely manufactured in India, were of superior quality compared to others in the Asian market and boasted a much higher production capacity.

He mentioned that the MoU with Almiya Group would enhance Adani Solar?s market penetration in Kerala. He added that Almiya had been associated with Adani Solar for several years and had participated in the 45 MW plant project in Tamil Nadu.

Augustine further remarked that Adani Solar held a 50 percent market share in India?s residential solar panel market. He noted Kerala?s considerable potential in the residential solar panel market, estimating that an average family would need to spend around Rs 1.6 lakh for a residential solar unit. He pointed out that their solar panels came with a 30-year warranty and could significantly reduce power bills to nearly zero.

Additionally, he mentioned that the Adani Group was exploring the use of solar energy at the Vizhinjam International Sea Port, which is being constructed by Adani Ports.
