Avaada Electro Operationalises Three GW Solar Cell Line in Nagpur

Avaada Electro has operationalised a three gigawatt (GW) solar cell production line at a manufacturing complex in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The commissioning adds substantial new capacity for the manufacture of silicon solar cells and represents a deliberate expansion of the company's renewable manufacturing footprint. The line integrates wafer processing, cell fabrication and inline testing to support consistent product quality. The facility will operate with a focus on scalability and process control to meet industrial demand.

The Nagpur line supplies cells for the downstream assembly of solar modules used in utility scale, commercial and distributed generation projects. Domestic production of cells reduces reliance on imports and strengthens the local solar supply chain through closer coordination with module manufacturers and component suppliers. The site is designed to interface with logistics networks and to facilitate timely delivery of finished cells to module assembly plants across regional markets.

The facility incorporates automated manufacturing processes, inline monitoring and quality assurance systems aligned with industry performance benchmarks for cell output and longevity. Production workflows include process optimisation and statistical control to maintain yield and reliability. The operationalisation supports manufacturing employment in the region and creates roles across operations, engineering and quality functions. Training programmes at the site aim to build local skills in advanced photovoltaic production techniques.

The company framed the project to align with national priorities for renewable energy manufacturing and to contribute to energy security through increased domestic production of solar technology. The Nagpur line complements other industrial initiatives in the sector and supports the broader ecosystem of suppliers, research institutions and testing services. Operational metrics and commercial supply agreements will determine throughput and market reach as production scales. The development underlines an industry trend towards greater localisation of clean energy manufacturing in India.
