Ceigall India signs PPA for 220 MW solar BESS project

Ceigall India has executed a power purchase agreement through its wholly owned subsidiary Ceigall Morena Solar BESS Park with Rewa Ultra Mega Solar for a 220 megawatt (MW) solar project paired with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Morena Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The tariff-based project, including goods and services tax, is valued at approximately Rs 17 billion (Rs 17 bn) and will combine solar generation with energy storage to support grid stability. Construction is scheduled to take 18 months followed by a 25 year operational period.\n\nThe discovered tariff for the project is Rs 2.70 per kWh, reflecting competitive pricing outcomes in recent renewable auctions and the growing importance of storage in ensuring dispatchability. The facility will reinforce efforts to expand renewable capacity while enhancing resilience and supply reliability in the region. The transaction forms part of Ceigall India's strategy to diversify its infrastructure portfolio beyond transportation and civil works into large scale clean energy assets.\n\nThe integrated solar and BESS installation is intended to smooth output, provide frequency regulation and deliver peak shaving services across its operational life. By coupling generation with storage, the project aims to mitigate intermittency and improve the ability to meet variable demand profiles. Ceigall Morena Solar BESS Park will oversee construction, commissioning and subsequent operations under the terms of the long term power supply arrangement.\n\nIndustry participants note the deal illustrates a broader trend of infrastructure companies pursuing renewable projects with long dated contracts to stabilise revenues and attract financing. The agreement will proceed through standard permitting and construction milestones, and progress will be watched by investors and policymakers attuned to the pace of renewable deployment. The outcome of the project is expected to contribute to the national transition towards a more resilient and sustainable electricity system.
