Centre Moves to List Solar Energy Corporation of India

The Centre is preparing to list the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), marking a major step towards bringing India’s renewable energy nodal agency to the public markets. The move comes as SECI expands its portfolio of solar, wind, hybrid and storage-linked projects and strengthens its financial performance.

The government is finalising the framework for SECI’s public issue, including timelines and valuation considerations. The proposed listing is expected to improve transparency, attract wider investor participation, and support India’s broader clean energy ambitions.

SECI, under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, plays a central role in implementing large-scale renewable tenders, managing power purchase agreements, and enabling green energy procurement. A potential IPO is likely to help the corporation scale further as demand for renewable capacity rises across regions and sectors.
