CII Gujarat Conference Highlights Solar For Industrial Cost Optimisation

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a conference on cost optimisation for industries using renewable energy at Hotel Novotel in Ahmedabad on 20 June 2026. The event convened industry leaders, policymakers and renewable energy experts to consider strategies for enhancing industrial competitiveness through greater deployment of solar energy. Rinish Sekhani, convenor of the CII Gujarat Textile Panel, welcomed participants and underlined the role of renewable energy in reducing operational costs and improving sustainability.

The guest of honour, Prakash Varmora, member of the legislative assembly for Dhrangadhra constituency, encouraged industries to adopt renewable energy for sustainable growth and expressed confidence that Gujarat could scale enterprises that make in India and make for the world through capable leadership. He framed sustainable expansion as dependent on investment in people and organisational capability. The narrative avoided partisan rhetoric and focused on practical pathways for industrial scale up.

The special address from Sujit Gulati, IAS (retd), set out strategic insights on policy frameworks and the trajectory for renewable energy adoption in India, emphasising the need for deepening public private collaboration and accelerating domestic manufacturing technologies. Dr Alok Das, convenor of the CII Gujarat Renewable Energy Panel, provided an overview of the sector and emerging opportunities. Kishorsinh Zala, president of the Gujarat Federation of Solar Industries, outlined the regional growth trajectory and market potential. Senior officials from the Gujarat Energy Development Agency and Gujarat Power Corporation attended the proceedings.

Partner presentations by several renewable energy companies showcased innovative solutions for industrial energy optimisation and operational flexibility, while an experience sharing session presented practical case studies and implementation learnings from industrial practitioners. The conference facilitated B2B networking sessions to foster collaborations and commercial engagement between technology providers and end users.
