CIL registers growth of 11%

CIL, a state-owned company, reported that it produced 47.3 million tonnes (MT) of coal in July, an increase of 11 per cent over the previous year. Domestic coal production often falls during the monsoon season each year due to disruptions in mining activity.

The company's output in the previous fiscal's corresponding month was 42.6 MT, according to a BSE filing. Coal India (CIL) reported that it has maintained a double-digit growth streak for four consecutive months in the current fiscal year.

Over 80 per cent of domestic coal production is accounted for by Coal India. The public sector enterprise produced 207.1 MT of coal in the first four months of the current fiscal year, a 24.3 per cent increase over the previous year's figure of 166.6 MT.
