Gujarat Unveils World’s Largest Hybrid Energy Park

Gujarat reinforced its position as India’s clean energy and industrial growth hub as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the world’s largest hybrid energy park in Kutch on the inaugural day of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Rajkot.

The conference, organised by the Government of Gujarat, began at Marwadi University with a focus on regional development, industrial expansion and sustainable investment. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the proposed hybrid energy park in Kutch would span an area nearly five times the size of Paris, marking a major milestone in India’s renewable energy journey.

During the event, Modi also inaugurated 13 new smart industrial estates and a medical devices park, aimed at strengthening Gujarat’s manufacturing and healthcare ecosystem. He highlighted the state’s leadership in clean energy, infrastructure development and ease of doing business, adding that regional empowerment remains central to India’s long-term economic growth.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel emphasised the role of regional development in achieving national economic objectives. He said platforms such as the VGRC are designed to ensure balanced growth across districts while attracting quality investments and generating employment.

Major corporate investment announcements further underlined Gujarat’s industrial momentum. Adani Group committed to investing Rs 1.5 trillion in Kutch over the next five years, focusing on infrastructure, renewable energy and allied sectors. In a parallel announcement, Reliance Industries said it plans to invest Rs 7 trillion in Gujarat during the same period, with a strong emphasis on clean energy, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure.

Addressing the conference, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani outlined plans to develop an integrated clean energy ecosystem at Jamnagar, expected to be the world’s largest of its kind. He also announced plans to establish Jamnagar as India’s largest AI-ready centre, aimed at providing affordable artificial intelligence capabilities to citizens and businesses nationwide.

Ketan Marwadi, president of Marwadi University, said hosting the VGRC was a matter of pride for the institution, noting that academic bodies play a vital role in nurturing skilled talent, promoting innovation and aligning education with industry needs. Jitu Bhai Chandarana, vice-chairman and co-founder of the university, added that the conference serves as a key platform for driving investment-led growth in the Kutch and Saurashtra regions, reflecting Gujarat’s industry-friendly policies and long-term vision for sustainable and inclusive prosperity.
