HPL partners with WBSEDCL for advanced metering project

HPL Electric & Power has entered into a partnership with West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) to implement an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) initiative. The project, valued at Rs 416.84 crore, will be backed by funding from the World Bank.

The AMI project is set to deploy smart meters across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Its capabilities include real-time data transmission, consumption tracking, accurate billing, and the potential to connect approximately five lakh consumers in Kolkata. The collaboration with WBSEDCL will oversee the AMI project's execution.

This endeavor aims to enhance energy efficiency and transparency by introducing smart metering solutions throughout WBSEDCL's operational landscape. Notably, this collaboration marks HPL Electric's foray into the role of a direct advanced metering infrastructure service provider (AMISP), driven by technological innovation and a focus on the energy domain.
