KP Energy Commissions 50.4 MW Wind Project for NTPC REL

KP Energy has commissioned a 50.4 megawatt (MW) wind project for NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) at the Vanki site in Nakhatrana in Kutch, Gujarat. The project comprises 16 Suzlon wind turbine generators (WTGs), each rated at 3.15 MW, which have achieved commercial operation and been declared commissioned. The company reported the development and commissioning of the first part of the 50.4 MW project in a regulatory filing.

The WTGs are located on site and have met the commercial operation date requirements, enabling the project to supply renewable energy to NTPC REL under the agreed terms. KP Energy developed the project as part of its services offering and completed the scope of works needed to bring the turbines into operation. Technical specifications were noted as part of the filing, identifying the model and rated capacity of each generating unit.

Earlier this year the KP Group installed a higher-capacity 4.2 MW turbine manufactured by Senvion India and deployed in south Gujarat under the 4XM platform, which is designed for Indian wind regimes and site conditions. That unit features a 160-metre rotor diameter and a 140-metre hub height, and was presented as optimised for low-to-medium wind regimes to increase energy capture and efficiency. The company positioned that deployment as complementary to its broader wind portfolio in the region.

In September 2023 KP Energy secured a 464.10 MW Balance of System (BoS) package from NTPC REL to develop an ISTS-connected wind energy project in Gujarat, under its Captive Power Producer business segment. The contract covered engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning and included land acquisition, supply of balance-of-plant equipment, installation, grid integration, testing and three years of operation and maintenance for the contract scope. The company stated the project was scheduled for completion within 21 months from the date of the notification of award. KP Energy continues to execute wind projects for institutional customers while advancing its onshore turbine deployments.
