L&T Construction awarded contracts worth Rs 25 to 50 billion

Water and effluent treatment: An EPC order has been secured from the Public Health Engineering Directorate, West Bengal for water supply to Nandakumar, Chandipur, Nandigram - I & II blocks in East Medinipur district. The project is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The scope includes design and construction of intake structure of capacity 112 MLD, pre-settling pond of capacity 164 ML, pre-settling reservoir of capacity 2.4 ML, water treatment plant of capacity 106 MLD, raw water and clear water transmission pipelines of 50 Km, clear water reservoir of capacity 14.85 ML, 3 pump houses and associated electromechanical and instrumentation works including operation and maintenance for two years. The project is expected to meet the water demands of 345 villages and 745 habitations in the district.

This project is part of the West Bengal Drinking Water Sector Improvement scheme, which aims at the development of sustainable water supply schemes and comprehensive coverage through piped water supply in the state.

Another order has been received from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for supplying, laying, testing and commissioning of clear water trunk main of 54 km with associated civil and mechanical works along the eastern route of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project is a part of the Phase 3 water supply augmentation of Cauvery Water Supply Scheme, Stage V, planned for Bengaluru.

Transportation infrastructure: The business has secured an EPC order from the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) involving electrification of 1,137 track km. The project is a part of the ‘Mission Electrification’ initiative of the Central Government, which is aimed at electrifying the entire Indian Railway Network to reduce the carbon footprint as well as reduce the expenditure on diesel. The scope includes 25 kV overhead electrification, signaling and telecommunication, traction substations and associated civil works in 985 route km of railway lines in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

L&T Construction is already executing the first EPC contract from CORE for electrification of Delhi-Jaipur section.

Another order has been secured from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) involving design, procurement and supply, installation, testing and commissioning of ballastless track on the mainline and ballasted track in the depot in the section between BKC station to Aarey Station (Package 10C – 40 track km) for Mumbai Metro Line 3 project.

This order has been secured against stiff competition from other major multi-national companies. With this order, L&T shall be executing the entire track works in Mumbai Metro Line 3 Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ corridor.

The business has secured an add-on order for various packages of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.

Buildings and Factories: The business has secured an order for EPC of a 300 bedded multi-specialty hospital at Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, various add-on orders have been received by some of the existing projects in the Power Transmission and Distribution (PT&D) and Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HC) businesses.
