Oyster Renewable Begins Gujarat Wind Operations

Oyster Renewable Energy has commissioned 52.8 megawatt (MW) of wind capacity at Dayapar in Gujarat for Jindal Stainless. Commercial operations began on 30 July 2026 and the commissioned stage comprises 16 wind turbines as the second phase of a 99 MW wind project in the state. The installation marks Oyster Renewable’s entry into Gujarat and forms part of a 315.6 MW solar-wind hybrid project being developed for Jindal Stainless, which includes 216 MW in Madhya Pradesh and 99 MW in Gujarat.

The 16 turbines required an investment of around Rs 3,850 million (mn), while Oyster Renewable has earmarked Rs 7,250 million (mn) for the full 30-turbine Gujarat wind facility. The overall hybrid initiative involves investment of more than Rs 20,000 million (mn), with Rs 1,320 million (mn) committed by Jindal Stainless. The facility has received compliance certification under the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2023 and under Central Electricity Authority standards for connectivity, communication and safety.

The remaining 14 turbines will be commissioned in phases to take the Gujarat wind facility to its full 99 MW capacity. The company indicated that the Gujarat site strengthens the project generation mix and that, once fully operational, the facility is expected to avoid close to 92,000 tonne (t) of carbon emissions annually. Management further noted that the commissioning is a step towards a three point five gigawatt (GW) pipeline and that the firm remains on track to bring the remaining capacity online as planned.

The project advances the developer’s footprint in a state regarded for strong wind resources and contributes to a larger hybrid programme linking wind and solar assets across states. Oyster Renewable and its partner continue phased roll-out and regulatory compliance as the project progresses towards full commercial operation.
