Reliance to Commission 10 GW Solar Giga Factory, Scales to 20 GW

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has said it is on track to commission its fully integrated solar manufacturing giga factory with an initial annual capacity of 10 gigawatt-peak (GWp), according to its recent Q3 earnings release. The company plans to scale this capacity to 20 GWp per year as part of its broader renewable energy push.

The Mukesh Ambani-led group has already commissioned its solar module manufacturing unit, while solar cell manufacturing based on heterojunction (HJT) technology was commissioned last quarter and is being ramped up to full capacity. RIL stated that its HJT cells are among the largest utility-scale cells globally, offering industry-leading efficiency and reinforcing its ambition to compete with global solar majors on both scale and technology.

On the upstream side, the company has commissioned a pilot line for ingots and wafers and will bring the giga factory online in phases over the course of the year. Commissioning of polysilicon and solar glass facilities is also planned within the year, with construction progressing at a rapid pace.

On the generation front, Reliance reiterated that it is developing one of the world’s largest renewable energy projects in Kutch, Gujarat. Land development, site infrastructure, engineering works and transmission infrastructure are progressing simultaneously, with key contracts either awarded or in the process of being finalised.

In parallel, RIL is building battery energy storage system (BESS) and battery cell manufacturing giga factories with a combined planned capacity of 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually. The company said construction is in full swing, with commissioning scheduled to take place in phases during the year.

Namo Bharat Rapid Rail to Redefine Medium-Distance Intercity Travel

India’s urban and regional transport landscape has steadily evolved alongside rapid urbanisation, population growth and economic expansion. The foundation of this journey was laid with early suburban rail networks such as the Mumbai Suburban Railway, introduced in 1853, and tram systems in cities including Kolkata and Chennai. These were followed by modern rapid transit solutions to improve urban mobility, beginning with the Kolkata Metro in 1984 and later the Delhi Metro in 2002. Together, these systems transformed intra-city travel by offering safer, faster and more reliable connectivity w..
