Suzlon Secures 248.85 MW Wind Order From ArcelorMittal

Suzlon Group, India’s leading wind energy solutions provider, has secured its first 248.85 MW wind power order from the ArcelorMittal Group through its renewable energy arm. The project marks a significant step in supporting the steelmaker’s decarbonisation efforts in India.

The project is located in Bachau, Gujarat, and forms part of a larger 550 MW hybrid renewable energy development in the region. The wind capacity will be dedicated to supplying clean power to facilities operated by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel in India. Under the order, Suzlon will supply 79 S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW.

This is Suzlon’s fourth major wind energy order linked to the decarbonisation of steel manufacturing, taking its cumulative contribution towards green steel capacity in India to around 1,156 MW. The company has been working closely with leading steel producers over the past year to support their transition to low-carbon production through renewable energy adoption.

As the largest wind energy player in Gujarat, with an installed capacity of around 4.5 GW, Suzlon continues to play a central role in advancing sustainable energy solutions for India’s hard-to-abate industrial sectors, particularly steel manufacturing.
