Swelect Commissions 50 MVA Transformer to Evacuate 50 MW

Swelect Energy Systems Limited has commissioned a new 110/33 kilovolt pooling substation by introducing a 50 megavolt-ampere (MVA) 110/33 kilovolt power transformer to evacuate power from a 50 megawatt (MW) solar project at Sirungattur in Tiruvanamalai district. The installation forms part of connectivity to the Sirungattur 110/33-11 kV substation and will serve generation in the Villupuram operation circle. The facility has been commissioned and will enable reliable evacuation of the identified capacity.

In a regulatory filing, the company indicated the pooling station will be used to evacuate power from the 50 MW project and detailed its role in local grid connectivity. The PSS will provide dedicated evacuation infrastructure and reduce constraints for the project by offering 110/33-11 kV interface. The move aligns with the developer's grid integration plans for the region and follows standard commissioning procedures.

Earlier corporate disclosures set out an expansion roadmap across independent power producer (IPP), engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and manufacturing verticals. Founder and vice chairman R. Chellappan outlined targets of two gigawatt (GW) of manufacturing capacity, one GW of IPP assets and one GW of EPC orders within a two-year timeframe. The company reported a balance sheet with financial assets exceeding Rs five billion (bn) and operational IPP assets of 150 MW, which it cited as supporting its capacity to pursue those targets.

Swelect also reported a project pipeline of more than 250 MW in Tamil Nadu at various stages of land acquisition and connectivity and said it intends to broaden its customer base to include commercial and industrial energy sales beyond the state. The company set a goal to add two GW of module manufacturing capacity by Q1 FY26–27 and indicated it has secured tie-ups to source domestic content requirement cells for the facility. The commissioning of the pooling station forms part of that broader strategy to scale generation and manufacturing.
