Tangedco to reduce loss with new system

To avoid long-term Private Purchase Agreements and create more assets, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) is set to use the Design, Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (DBOOT) method for the first time.

Using this method, the state-owned utility plans to issue an e-tender in the first week of January for 1,000 MW solar parks in six districts, Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji told TNIE. A senior Tangedco official added that the plants would be installed on 3,293 acres in the six districts of Tiruvarur, Chengalpattu, Karur, Salem, Erode, and Kancheepuram. Foreign investments are also expected as a result of the e-tender.
