Gujarat, known as the heart of India's infrastructure development, has been a driving force behind the country's economic growth. With ambitious projects such as the Dedicated Freight Corridor, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, and numerous ports and industrial clusters, the demand for advanced construction equipment and machinery in the state has been on the rise.The inaugural edition of the Gujarat Conex exhibition aimed to capitalise on this burgeoning demand and foster an environment conducive to innovation, investment, and collaboration in the construction and infrastructure sector.The first edition of the Gujarat Conex Exhibition held at the Helipad Ground, Gandhinagar, marked a significant milestone in the state's journey as an infrastructure hub. This event brought together industry leaders, manufacturers, suppliers, and key stakeholders in the construction equipment and machinery sector. It provided a platform to showcase the latest technological advancements, foster collaborations, and discuss strategies for furthering the growth of the infrastructure industry in Gujarat.Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, while inaugurating the Gujarat Conex 2023 organised by Gujarat Contractors Association in Gandhinagar, called upon changes in the standards of quality for healthy global competition. In this context, he said that for nation-building, the interest of the state should be given priority along with the commercial interest.The three-day exhibition showcased advanced construction machinery and vehicles, building material machines and mining machines. More than 300 participants have participated in this exhibition with around 500 different products on display.On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the coffee table book of the Gujarat Contractors Association and awarded the Excellence in Construction Sector and Lifetime Achievement Awards to five individuals. CM further said that the Prime Minister has looked forward to infrastructure development to prepare the roadmap for sustainable development.India also received appreciation from the heads of various nations of the developed countries of the world because of the success of G20. Furthermore, they left with a strong impression that India is not behind with respect to other countries. The Vibrant Summit started by the Prime Minister to give Gujarat a global platform in every field has now completed two decades and set new benchmarks for best infrastructure development, CM added.“We have to tweak the standards of quality in order to stay in healthy competition to take this bright tradition and development journey forward at a faster pace”, he said.Stating infrastructure development as an essential need of the hour, the Chief Minister said that this sector has been prioritised in the budgets of state and central government, respectively.CM also explained the role of the provision made of Rs 10 lakh crore by the Prime Minister for infrastructure development in this year’s budget of the Central Government.“Similarly, the state government budget has been continuously increased for overall development including infrastructure development in Gujarat. In 1995, the state budget was Rs 12,000 crore, which has now transformed into a historic budget with an amount of Rs 3 lakh crore this year,” he added.The Chief Minister has considered infrastructure development as one of the five pillars of development in this year’s budget and also said that the state government has planned five lakh crore rupees for infrastructure development for the next five years. He expressed his determination to build a developed Gujarat through developed India during this Amrit Kaal and appealed to all the social classes including the Contractors Association to contribute together in this journey of development.“We are happy to support this inaugural edition of Gujarat Conex. These companies produce a wide range of equipment, including earthmoving machinery, material handling equipment, road construction machinery, and more. Gujarat's strategic location and well-connected ports have facilitated the export of construction equipment to various international markets. This has contributed to the state’s economy and global trade. The Gujarat state government has often introduced policies and initiatives to attract investment in various industries, including manufacturing. These initiatives aim to boost local production and create employment opportunities.Gujarat's infrastructure industry is becoming an ideal model to boost India’s growth story. To achieve the goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy, India is focusing on advanced infrastructure development and fresh new projects. Gujarat is the first state in the country to enact a legal framework for PPP in the infrastructure sector. Therefore, the state has seen exponential growth in the past decade.The first edition of the exhibition was a resounding success, fostering a positive atmosphere for the growth of the construction and infrastructure sector in the state. With its strong start, this event is poised to become a regular fixture in the industry calendar, further cementing Gujarat's reputation as a hub for infrastructure development and innovation. It is anticipated that future editions will continue to attract industry leaders, promote technological advancements, and drive economic growth in the region.
