A Make in India Initiative, taking Construction Industry Online. The construction industry is one of the least digitised with a very low tech adaptation rate worldwide. By founding Olous App, Veerendra Khot and Darshan Teredesai have taken a quantum leap in getting the industry online by creating a virtual ecosystem for it on a mobile platform. Olous is India’s first, AI-driven, virtual platform for the design, construction and real-estate industry for business, educative content, knowledge share and jobs. It is a one-stop solution for the industry to promote online growth in alignment with the Government’s Digital India initiative. Both architects and experienced construction professionals, Khot and Teredesai worked in the UK and India with top companies before leaving their well-paid jobs to form Olous. Their mission was to bring in a disruptive change by working towards the larger vision of digitising the construction industry. Construction is the second largest employment generating sector in India, and in the top three in most countries. Construction alone contributes 9 per cent to GDP growth, yet it is very fragmented. The only way to make it more efficient is to go digital and connect all professionals, students and businesses on one platform for collective growth. Olous provides access to educative content specific for the industry and an open network to connect with professionals and businesses for work, energizes job creation and absorption, and provides an ecosystem conducive for all members of the industry to nurture growth. While the platform is currently targeted at India, the founders have plans to connect the global construction industry on this unique platform. The Olous App has received great reviews from the industry and the founders are striving hard to live up to expectations by continuously developing new, value-added features.
